Sorry to hear about the Monte. That’s awful!
Did this happen on the way down or way back?
Hope you keep it. I know Matt can fix anything.

Sad to say, this chapter has quite possibly come to an end.

On the way to Watkins Glen this morning, we hit a patch of ice and spun the car into the guardrail.

We are all ok, barely felt the hit. The car wasn't so lucky. The right rear is slammed inside the trunk, rear bumper is torn, the deck lid crushed, tail lights destroyed.

I'm hoping it's not totaled, but Matthew is pretty sure it will be. I should have an answer by the end of the week,
WTF ? So shock and sorry to hear this Dave. Glad you're not hurt. I know the weather was terrible last Sunday. In fact I mentioned to Ro when we got up that you wouldn't be hitting the Glen in this crap. I'm shocked they even had it. I'm guessing the accident happened on the way judging from the time of your post. Again so sorry I know how much work and TLC you put into it last year.

Yeah, wasn't one of my smartest moves. But it's a life lesson. Clint, we were just past the Clarence rest stop, heading to the Glen.

Sadly, The insurance company only gave me $3k for it. I kept it. Matt and i stripped it down and there is no structure damage. Now I'm waiting on the check to see what I can do.

We located quarter panels, and most of the other parts. I have a few spare parts, so if Matthew says we can fix it, we might just fix it

I was so hoping that you would keep it. With no structural damage damage I would think anything can be fixed. Luckily Matt's one of the best. It was just a shame it happened at all.

Well it’s been a few months of hard work. But the body Is in paint this weekend. With luck, over the next week Matthew will have the fender, doors and deck lid in paint. Then we can get started on the rear bumper and side skirts.

This week I’ll start cleaning and assembling the interior. Also I can run the new electrical wiring for the doors.

The goal is Labor Day weekend, but it’s going to be really close if we make it at all.

Saw the progress yesterday - looks awesome so far.
I bet you can get it rolling by Labor Day.

Well, not going to make the Labor Day deadline.

Body and doors are all wet sanded and buffed. Most of the interior is back together. But it’s filthy.

Still need the small panels, rear bumper and lower valance pained. And the deck lid needs to be fixed and resprayed.

The tail lights I got don’t fit, so I have to modify them and the quarter panel mounting.

Wednesday they are coming to put the glass back in.

And still have a whole lot of cleaning to do.

Going to try for Roswell on the 22nd

Yeah, thats one way to look at it.

Tonight, got the sunroof installed, mocked up and modified the new tail lights and then cleaned all the glass.

Tomorrow they are coming to install the glass. I took the day off, so im planning on getting the new door handles wired. The new power outlet installed and wired and if time permits, repair the tail light wiring.

Getting closer!

Headlights, mudflaps and some trim is on. Decklid repainted. Once matthew has that wet sanded and buffed this week, ill get it on and the tailblights installed so i can drive it home. At the house, ill finish the trunk, cleaning the suspension and swapping the wheels. That way the garage is open for matt to finish the bumper and quite possibly make it to Roswel!
