Sonic Drive In review

Post by battmann » Sun Mar 15, 2015 6:42 am

There's a new Sonic in Rochester and we finally decided to check it out yesterday. I went to one about 10 years ago in Nashville and I remembered it being pretty good, but I wasn't going to get my hopes up cause Dave said he didn't like it. Well, I have to agree with Dave. It was cool they have tater tots but my burger and fries were pretty awful. My milkshake was decent. Not good enough to make me want to go back though. Overall I was very disappointed :( and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

LMAO!!!! I can't believe how popular Sonic is down south, yet the food is lousy! I mean, it makes McDonalds a 4 star restaurant! It's one step above White castle. I guess their drinks/smoothies/shakes are really good, but I will pass on the burgers.

And the true test is, When Matt gives away his food, you know it is bad!

WE NEED A HARDEES!!!!!!!!

Man that IS disappointing to hear. Andie and I hit Sonic's every time we go out West and we love it. We've even eaten Sonic burgers while "standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona". Seriously. There is one coming to Buffalo, on Union Road near Galleria Drive this August. Hope the foods not as bad as the one in Rochester.

Pete, I hope it isn't as bad as our last 2 encounters, But Matt and I will try it.

We did try the new Checkers that opened up on Union. The loaded bacon fries were awesome!! But the Burger was not all that great, but was edible.

Is that part of the Checkers from Hertle Ave. ? I remember having roast beef on weck there when I 1st moved here in the 70's. It was/is a runners hang out. Even started a Checkers A.C. but I ran for the Onterora Runners Club out of Catskill NY at the time. Where on Union is it Dave ?

Not sure about a checkers on Hertle. But It is part of the ones that are on the Thruway stops. It's just past Losson Rd. Right next to the Right Aid on the corner. It's a drive thru place like Sonic, but you can walk up to the window and order too.

Different Checkers for sure. The other one is like Weichecs over on Clinton. Or like Cheers only without Sam Malone. lol I'll check it out some Friday since it's not that far from my work. Thanks Dave. .

You're one up on me, I never heard of Checkers except for the bar on Hertle Ave.

LOL! Checkers opened late last Summer. Since it's a drive in, maybe this Summer, we can all go and cruise there for a quick lunch.

I'll be in town this Sunday but might go to Quaker Steak after the show. It's Anna's favorite restaurant.

We didn't stop but my daughter tells me that there's a Sonic now in Watertown. I'll have to hit it next time I'm up there.
